Description
The Vicarage and adjoining stables, built around 1812 by Greenwich Hospital, are located on Church Road in Alston. The vicarage is constructed from coursed, squared rubble with quoins and features graduated slate roofs, stone copings, and end chimneys. The front of the house is symmetrical, with two storeys and three bays. It has a central part-glazed door in a stone surround, flanked by one sash window on each side, with two additional sash windows above. The rear of the house, which faces the church, includes a central stair window with glazing bars and a semicircular head, along with a part-glazed door and two sashes on each floor. The stable block is set back to the right at the front of the house and has two doors with two windows above, as well as a small lean-to at the junction with the house.
