Description

The walls and gates at the entrance to St Augustine's churchyard in Alston date from the 20th century and are constructed of low walls made from snecked rubble with chamfered coping. The rectangular gate piers are built from ashlar and coursed rubble, topped with gabled caps featuring fleurs-de-lys moulded ridges. There are 20th-century wrought-iron lamps and wooden gates that have carved heraldic panels. This structure is included for its group value.
