Description
Hallbeck is a house dating from 1684, as indicated by the datestone. It is constructed of stone rubble and has a slate roof. The north-east facade features two storeys and four bays, with double-chamfered-mullioned windows that have label moulds. The ground floor has windows arranged in a 4:1:3:2-light pattern, while the first floor has a 4:2:3:1-light arrangement. The entrance is marked by a gabled porch, which includes an entrance with triple roll moulding, moulded imposts, and a lintel that has incised geometrical ornament. Above the entrance is a label mould with an enriched datestone. The entrance door is a two-panel design with bolection moulding, a dado rail, and an enriched latch plate. The house has gable-end stacks, with the left stack being squat. The north-west return has a later lean-to outhouse that features a sashed window and an entrance. The south-west elevation includes a gabled wing with a lean-to outshut on the left return and varied fenestration. The interior, which has not been inspected, is reported to contain panelling with an enriched frieze, fixed oak settles, an early 18th-century stone fireplace with a corbelled lintel, and a spice cupboard with an enriched panel.
