Description

Two adjoining houses dating from the early 19th century are located on West Street, Wigton. The houses are built with painted incised stucco, featuring a chamfered plinth, string course, dentilled cornice, and parapet. They have a graduated greenslate roof and brick and cement-rendered chimney stacks. Number 18 is a single bay, while Number 16 has two bays. Steps lead up to panelled front doors, each protected by a Tuscan-style doorcase topped with a radial fanlight. The sash windows are fitted with glazing bars and overlook painted stone panels. The buildings are listed partly for group value with the adjoining property at Number 20 (Arlosh House).
