Description

A pair of semi-detached houses dating from the early 19th century, located on the south side of Downshire Hill in Camden. The houses are constructed of stucco, with hipped slated roofs featuring a stucco eaves cornice and a central chimney stack. They extend over three storeys and include basements. Each house has a single window. Number 39 has a 20th-century side entrance extension. Number 40 features a cambered arch doorway with an overlight and a panelled door. The recessed sash windows on the ground floor have louvred shutters and a sill band, while those on the first floor have cast-iron balconies. The interiors were not inspected. Attached to the property are low brick garden walls with cast-iron railings, topped with urn finials.
