Description

Two adjoining houses, likely built around the late 18th century, are situated on the west side of Brook Street in Bampton. The buildings are constructed from local stone rubble, which was probably originally stuccoed, and have a slate roof with gables at each end. An axial chimney stack is located between the houses, while end stacks, each with several chimneypots, are present on either side.

The houses comprise a three-bay front for number 8 and a two-bay front for number 6. Number 8 features a recessed, 19th-century four-panel front door with panelled reveals, pilasters, and a cornice. It also has 19th-century 12-pane sash windows. Number 6 has a 19th-century four-panel front door, positioned on the right-hand side, with a prettily glazed rectangular fanlight, pilasters, and a cornice. This house also features 19th-century 12-pane sash windows. The layout of number 8 includes two rooms and a central entrance, while number 6 is smaller and has its entrance on the right side of the front facade.
