Description
Court Grove is a former farmhouse, likely dating from the 18th century or earlier. The exterior is colourwashed and rendered, probably over a stone rubble core, with a slate roof, gabled at each end. It has a stone chimney stack on the right end and a rear lateral stack.
Originally, the house probably had a single-depth plan with two rooms to the left and one to the right of a large cart entrance, centrally located. A cart entrance is visible on the right side of the front, with plank double doors and a moulded architrave and cornice. The front has an asymmetrical four-window facade; the windows are two-light casements with two panes per light and projecting architraves featuring keyblock details.
The interior was not inspected but may contain interesting features. The low roofline and the positions of the stacks suggest the possibility of earlier, 17th-century fabric, and further internal investigation may require revising the current dating. It was reported that cattle were kept at the rear of the property until 1958.
