Tarnside

Tarnside is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century, with extensions that are dated and inscribed "A.H. 1840" above the side entrance. The building is constructed from mixed sandstone and split cobbles, featuring a dentilled eaves cornice and V-jointed quoins set on a chamfered plinth. It has a graduated hipped greenslate roof with stone chimney stacks. The farmhouse is two storeys high and consists of three bays, with lower single-bay wings on either side. The 20th-century door is located under a painted radial fanlight within a round-headed surround that has a false keystone. The windows are sash style with glazing bars, except for those in the right wing, which do not have glazing bars. The end wall on the right side includes a panelled door and sash windows framed in painted stone surrounds.
