Description
Old Lane Mill is a late 18th-century windmill that has been converted into a scout hut, with some 19th-century additions. It is constructed of random red sandstone rubble and topped with a Welsh slate roof. The structure features a five-storey tapering circular tower that lacks sails, alongside a three-storey rectangular steam-mill extension. The tower has 20th-century plank doors and small square windows positioned at various levels. The extension includes a large cart entrance with a 20th-century plank door, while the upper floor lofts and side windows have been blocked with brick. The walls have been raised in height using brick, and there is the base of a square sandstone chimney located to the left. Although the original machinery was removed in the early 1970s, the internal floors of the mill remain intact.
