Description
No. 223 on Watling Street West is a shop and dwelling dating from the late 18th century. It is constructed of painted brick in header bond and features a slate roof with a brick ridge stack. The building has a one-unit plan and rises three stories with a single-window range. To the right, there is a part-glazed door with an overlight and a pilastered wooden surround. A bay window is located to the left, topped with a dentilled wooden cornice that extends over the door as a hood. The first and second floors each have 12-pane sash windows with flat-arched heads. The eaves are also dentilled in brick. Additionally, there are two County Fire Insurance plaques on the building. The interior has not been inspected.
