Description

Casa Nene is a house that was formerly six cottages, dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and ironstone rubble, with tile and slate roofs and brick end stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, with part of it being just two storeys.

On the right side, the two-storey and attic range features two three-light casement windows on the ground floor that have replaced the original mullions, complete with stone lintels and hood moulds. There is a two-light chamfered mullion window on the left side of the first floor, and a leaded casement window on the right side of the first floor that has replaced a stone mullion. The right gable end has a stone-coped gable with kneelers and single-light leaded windows that have double-chamfered stone surrounds in the attic.

To the left, there is a slate-roofed range with two- and three-light casement windows that have timber lintels, except for the right ground floor window, which has a moulded stone frame and hood mould. Above this, there is a three-light ovolo stone mullion window with leaded lights. The eaves of this range are brick nogged, and the left end of the slate roof is hipped. The entrance is located at the rear.

Inside, there is an ogee-stop-chamfered spine beam, several stop-chamfered joists, and an open fireplace with a stop-chamfered cambered bressumer, as well as another fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer and a bread oven.
