Description
Red Lyon Cottage is a house, likely originally built as two cottages, dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with quoins and features an asbestos tile roof, along with a brick end stack on the left side. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a two-window range. There is a central straight joint, with the left half displaying more regular masonry and small stones, featuring 2-light leaded casement windows on both the ground and first floors, all with timber lintels. On the right gable elevation, there is a 20th-century door with a timber lintel, a 2-light casement window above on the first floor, and a 1-light window in the attic, both also with timber lintels. The main entrance at the rear is marked by a 20th-century porch. Inside, the cottage includes chamfered spine beams.
