Description

The Plough is an 18th-century public house located on the east side of Everdon Well Lane. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with an old plain-tile roof and brick end stacks. The building originally comprised two units, now expressed as a three-window, two-storey and attic front. A central entrance features a 6-panel door with an overlight, covered by a straight hood supported on iron brackets and accessed by one moulded semi-circular stone step. Windows throughout are wood mullion and transom style with timber lintels, and the building has quoins and stone-coped gables. Three gabled roof dormers are present. A lower, two-window 19th-century wing is attached to the left, featuring brick eaves and a slate roof. The interior contains boxed spine beams. The building possesses group value from its contribution to the historic character of the area.
