Description
Wansbeck is a house dating from the late 17th century, constructed from coursed squared ironstone with a slate roof and brick end stacks. It features a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with an attic, presenting a two-window range on its principal elevation facing Well Lane. This elevation shows evidence of a blocked door on the far left, a 2-light small pane leaded casement window to the left of centre, a 3-light casement window to the right, and a one-light leaded window with a blocked right light on the first floor to the left, along with a 2-light casement window on the first floor to the right. All windows are topped with stop-chamfered timber lintels. The house has a plinth and a stone-coped gable with kneelers on the left side. There is a two-storey addition to the left, featuring an upper storey of brick with 2-light casement windows that have pointed arched heads, set against a pebbledashed and bargeboarded left gable elevation. Access to the rear is through a 20th-century porch. Inside, the house includes stop-chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a stop-chamfered bressumer.
