Description

A 17th-century outbuilding and former cottage stands beside The Green in Badby. The building is constructed of coursed squared ironstone, with a corrugated iron roof that replaced an earlier thatched roof. A stone end stack is present on the right side, partially rebuilt with brick. The cottage is a single unit, two stories high, with a single window facing the front. The ground floor has a two-light casement window on the right and a single-light casement on the left. The first-floor window was originally a dormer. To the left of the cottage is an opening leading to a hayloft above, with a plank door. Brick eaves are visible. A door on the right side has a chamfered wooden surround and a 17th-century plank door with its original hinges. Windows and doors are topped with timber lintels. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a chamfered cambered bressumer, stop-chamfered spine beams, and stop-chamfered joists.
