Description
Wayside is an early 18th-century house situated on the east side of Badby Main Street. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone with an asbestos tile roof and brick end stacks with stone bases. The original plan comprised two units with a central staircase. The house is two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front. A central six-panel part-glazed door is flanked by offset buttresses, which are also incorporated into a tiled porch. A two-light casement window is positioned above the door, with matching three-light casements on the ground and first floors to either side, all featuring timber lintels. A large 19th-century brick wing extends to the rear. The building has stone coped gables with kneelers. Inside, the house features boxed spine beams with run-out stops, a dog-leg staircase with turned balusters (three to a tread), carved tread ends, and a moulded handrail. The roof structure is a collar truss design with clasped principals.
