Description
Stone Cottage is a cottage dating from the 18th century, with possible earlier origins and 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a reed thatch roof, along with brick stacks at the ends and ridge. The cottage has a three-unit plan and is two stories high with a three-window range. A 20th-century door is located to the right of the center, featuring a wooden lintel and a straight hood supported by brackets. There is a three-light casement window on the ground floor to the right, while the other windows are two-light casements on both the ground and first floors, all with stop-chamfered wooden lintels. The ground floor of the left end bay is made of coursed squared ironstone and includes a blocked door on the far left and signs of a blocked window. Inside, there are chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a chamfered cambered bressumer, along with a collar truss roof.
