Description
The Denton War Memorial is a grey Forest of Dean stone cross approximately 3.5 meters high, situated in the churchyard south of the Church of St Margaret of Antioch, which is listed as Grade II*. The memorial is set on a tapering square plinth that rests on a two-stepped base. The plinth features carved dedications and names of those commemorated:
On the north face, it reads: "TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN LOVING MEMORY OF THOSE CONNECTED WITH THIS PARISH WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY AND FOR RIGHT IN THE GREAT WAR. 1914 – 1919 'THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE.'"
The east face lists six names, the south face includes the years 1939 – 1945 and seven names, and the west face has six names.
