Description

Appletree Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is built from coursed squared ironstone and features an artificial stone slate roof with rendered stacks. The house has an L-plan layout, is two storeys tall with an attic, and consists of three bays. On the ground floor, there are three 3-light windows with stone mullions and square hoods, while the first floor has three 3-light windows with wood lintels and iron casements. The hipped dormers also have wood casements.

At the rear, there is a projecting wing that dates from the 17th to 18th century, constructed from coursed squared ironstone and topped with an artificial stone slate roof. This wing is two storeys high with an attic and consists of one bay. There is a 19th-century lean-to timber porch with a doorway framed in moulded wood and a six-panel door. The window to the left of the porch retains its original wood lintel and features a 20th-century casement. On the first floor, there is a 4-light window with a wood lintel, original wood mullions, and an iron casement, along with another hipped dormer.

Inside, the arrangement of the ground floor rooms has been altered, but notable features include stop-chamfered ceiling beams and an open fireplace.
