Description

Home Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century. It is built of squared coursed ironstone with a slate roof and stone stacks. The building has two storeys, an attic, and a cellar, featuring four bays. The doorway, located in the second bay from the right, has a moulded wood frame, a plank door, and a 19th-century gabled timber porch. There is a three-light stone-mullioned window with a square hood, along with two similar windows to the left. On the first floor, there is a two-light window with a stone mullion that does not have a hood in the left bay, and a similar window to the right. Between these, at the mezzanine and attic levels, are two two-light windows; the mezzanine window has a wood lintel and wood casement, while the attic window has a plain stone frame and an iron casement. The window in the right bay features a wood lintel and a 19th-century three-light iron casement. On the left side of the house, there are three-light stone-mullioned windows on both the ground and first floors, and a two-light window in the attic, all with stone hoods. There are 20th-century dormers, and the gable ends are coped with kneelers. An adjoining barn to the right is also made of ironstone and has a corrugated iron roof. The interior has not been inspected but is said to have been remodelled with the original staircase removed.
