Description

This is a cottage dating from the 17th to 18th centuries, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is built of coursed limestone rubble, with the front and sides rendered and painted, and has a thatched roof. Brick stacks are located on the flanking sides. The cottage originally comprised one bay and has a later right-hand extension of one bay, two storeys high, rendered with a slate roof. The front entrance, located to the right of centre, features a moulded wooden frame and a four-panel door. A 20th-century gabled timber porch has been added. A two-light casement window to the right has a 20th-century wood lintel and an old wooden mullion. A three-light window on the first floor has a wood lintel and an old iron casement. 19th-century sash windows are found on the left side. The right-hand extension features three-light windows with wood lintels and old iron casements. The interior has been remodelled in the 19th and 20th centuries, but retains the original roof structure. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding buildings.
