Description

22 and 24 Wappenham Road are two cottages dating from the 18th century. They are constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a shingle roof, featuring brick and stone ridge stacks, as well as a brick end stack on a stone base. The cottages are two stories high and have a five-window range.

No. 22 has a gabled slate-roofed stone porch with a four-panel door that has a timber lintel. There are small circular windows with stone surrounds on either side of the porch. On either side of the porch, there are three-light casement windows with timber lintels and hood moulds. The first floor features two-light casements with timber lintels, except for the window on the left, which is a two-light chamfered stone mullion window with a hood mould and a stone-coped gable to the right.

No. 24 has a 19th-century plank door in a moulded wood surround with a timber lintel, flanked by three-light casements with timber lintels, one of which has a hood mould. The first floor includes a two-light chamfered stone mullion window on the right with a hood mould and a two-light casement with a timber lintel on the left.

Inside No. 22, there are stop-chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a bar stop-chamfered bressumer and a bread oven.
