Description
23 and 24 Common Slip are two cottages dating from the 18th century. They are built of limestone rubble with freestone quoins and dressings, topped with a continuous double-Roman tile roof and rendered brick stacks at the gable ends. Each cottage has a one-unit plan and is two storeys high.
No. 23 is on the right and includes an attic and cellar, featuring a two-window range. It has two small paired semicircular-arched windows at the center above similar flat-arched windows. To the left, there is a 20th-century door with a moulded hood on brackets, and to the right, a 19th-century four-panel door. No. 24, on the left, has cyma-moulded three-light plate-glass casement windows on both floors. No. 23 also has a 19th-century half-dormer with a two-light casement window and 20th-century three-light casement windows to the right.
Inside No. 23, there is an open fire at the right gable end and a stone-flagged cellar.
