Description
No. 21 Common Slip is a pair of cottages that have functioned as a single dwelling since the late 18th century. The building dates from the mid-18th century and is constructed of limestone rubble with freestone quoins on the right and rear left. It features a half-hipped stone slate roof, with brick stacks located at the right gable end and in the center. The exterior is two storeys high and has a three-window range. There is a 20th-century enclosed gabled porch to the right of the center and two-light windows. The door that originally served the left-hand cottage has been converted into a window. Inside, the chimney breast of a former open fire remains to the right of the central stack, along with exposed chamfered beams. On the first floor, the base of a collar truss is visible, complete with slots for former collars.
