Description

This is a mid-18th century house, originally a farmhouse. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a slate roof and brick end and ridge stacks set on stone bases. The original building was planned with three rooms, and has a four-window front. A six-panel door is located to the right of the centre, sheltered by a 19th-century timber porch with an overlight. A blocked doorway, with a stone lintel and keyblock, is visible on the far left. The ground floor has a three-light casement window to the left and right, a central 19th-century canted bay window, and two-light casement windows. The first floor has two-light casement windows with stone lintels and keyblocks. Quoins are present, and the gables are stone-coped with kneelers. A floor extension to the left was added in the 19th century, featuring a plank door and two-light casements on both the ground and first floors. Inside, notable features include ogee stop-chamfered spine beams, an open fireplace with an ogee stop-chamfered bressumer, a dog-leg staircase with turned balusters, and a stone corner chimneypiece in an upper room, which has a segmental arched head and imposts.
