Description
39 and 41 Church Street are a pair of cottages built in the early 18th century. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble with plain tile roofs and feature brick end stacks on stone bases.
No. 39 has a two-unit plan and is two stories tall with a two-window range. It has a central 20th-century plank door with a timber lintel, situated in a 20th-century stone porch. To the right, there is a three-light casement window, and to the left, there are two two-light casement windows, all with timber lintels. The cottage also features two hipped dormers and a stone-coped gable to the left, complete with kneelers.
No. 41 has a one-unit plan and is also two stories tall, with an attic and a one-window range. It has a 20th-century part-glazed door to the left with a timber lintel, and three-light casement windows on both the ground and first floors, which also have timber lintels. There is a hipped roof dormer above. The right side has quoins and a stone-coped gable with kneelers, along with a lean-to extension. Inside No. 41, there are stop-chamfered spine beams.
