Description

Milton Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage located on the east side of Church Street in Helmdon. Constructed of coursed limestone rubble, it has a corrugated iron roof and brick end stacks. The cottage originally comprised two units. It is two storeys and an attic, with a 2-window frontage. A 4-panel, part-glazed door is recessed within a rendered surround, located to the left of the centre. The ground and first floors each have a 3-light casement window, all with stop-chamfered timber lintels; the window to the right of the ground floor has a hood mould. A small, rectangular window to the right of the door provides light to the cellar, featuring a double-chamfered stone door. Stone-coped gables with kneelers are present, and the cottage was formerly thatched. The interior was not inspected.
