Description
No. 2 London Road is a house, now used as offices, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of brick and has a slate roof. The building originally had a two-unit plan and is two storeys high, featuring a three-window range with a blank centre window. The central entrance has a six-panelled door with toplights and a lattice wooden porch. There are canted wooden bay windows with glazing bars flanking the entrance, and sash windows with glazing bars on the first floor. A diagonal brick cornice runs along the top, and the gable has a parapet with an ashlar kneeler to the right, along with brick stacks at each end. There are early 19th-century extensions at the rear, while 20th-century extensions attached to the building are not of special architectural interest. Inside, the building features an early 19th-century staircase with a stick balustrade and an open well.
