Description
No. 1 London Road is a house that has been converted into a surgery and flat. It dates from the early 18th century and is built from ironstone ashlar with an asbestos tile roof. The original layout was a three-unit plan, and the building stands two storeys high with an attic. The façade features a four-window range of casements with wooden mullions and transoms, all set under flat arch heads with keyblocks. To the left of the centre, there is a six-panelled door with top lights, which is sheltered by a flat wooden hood over the roof dormers. The building has ashlar gable parapets and brick stacks at both ends. Inside, the entrance hall retains remnants of an open fire with a bressumer, and the first-floor rooms have panelled window reveals.
