Description
27 Church Street is a house dating from the early to mid-18th century. It is built of regularly coursed limestone and has a thatched roof. The house has a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with two bays. On the first floor, there is one casement window in the centre and two casement windows on the ground floor to the left, all featuring glazing bars and positioned under wooden lintels. To the right of the centre, there is a four-panel door, also beneath a wooden lintel. The gable ends have ashlar parapets and kneelers, along with remnants of ashlar stacks that have moulded cornices. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted that the room to the left contains remains of an open fireplace with a bressumer. This building was formerly used as a schoolhouse.
