Description
The Kings Head Public House and attached outbuilding is a public house that likely has origins in the 17th century, with significant alterations in the mid-18th century and mid-19th century. The building is constructed of regularly coursed limestone and features a Collyweston slate roof. It was originally designed with a two-unit plan and stands two storeys tall.
The front has a two-window range of 19th-century casement windows with wood lintels on the ground floor. The first-floor window in the center is located under a Lincolnshire eaves dormer. There is a central 19th-century part-glazed door beneath a 20th-century hood, and a cellar door is positioned to the right. The building retains remnants of a raised plinth, and the right gable has ashlar gable parapets. There are brick and stone stacks at both ends.
Attached to the right is a mid to late 18th-century outbuilding with a pantile roof, which has a blank wall facing the road. The right gable of this outbuilding shows evidence of having been raised on the rear side. Additionally, there is a 19th-century lean-to extension at the rear. Inside, the building features remnants of an open fireplace with a bressumer.
