Description
Pole Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid 18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone and features a thatched roof. The original layout was a three-unit plan, and the building stands two storeys high. The front has a three-window range with 19th and 20th century casements that include glazing bars, all set under wood lintels. On the first floor, the window to the right is a leaded casement, while the centre window has a shallow eyebrow dormer above it. To the left of centre, there is a 20th century door with a hood. The house has ashlar ridge and end stacks, which are adorned with moulded cornices. There is a single-storey outbuilding attached to the left, styled similarly, which is now part of the main house. The rear elevation mirrors the front. The interior has not been inspected, but it is noted to have an open fireplace with a bressumer. Originally, the house likely featured a lobby entry from the rear.
