Description

The Rectory is a building that likely has origins from the early 18th century, with most of its structure dating from the late 18th to early 19th centuries, and alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with an ashlar facade and features an artificial slate roof. The building has a double depth plan and stands two storeys high.

The garden front displays a two-window range with sash windows that have glazing bars and are set under gauged stone heads on the left side. To the right, there is a 20th-century bay window and a casement window. The building has brick stacks located at the ridge and at the ends.

The entrance front, which is to the right of the garden front, features a central glazed door surrounded by reeded wood and topped with a rectangular fanlight that has curved glazing bars. The rear elevation also has a two-window range, but this includes 20th-century cross casements with glazing bars under wooden lintels. The service quarters to the right have been modified in the 20th century.

Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have a late 18th to early 19th-century staircase with a stick balustrade. The rear range of the building may incorporate an earlier house. The Rectory is included for its group value.
