Description
Fieldby House is a house built in the early 18th century and late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building features coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins on the rear range, and red and yellow brick in Flemish bond with ashlar dressings on the garden front. It has pantiled roofs with raised stone coped gables and two red brick gable stacks. The house has a parallel ranges plan and is two storeys tall with a three-bay front that includes a plinth and a chamfered eaves course.
The central entrance has double six-panelled doors with a traceried fanlight, wood panelled reveals, and a plain pilastered doorcase topped with an open pediment. On either side of the entrance are single two-light French windows with stained glass borders. The first floor features three plain sash windows, all of which have segmental heads with keyblocks. Inside, the house retains a stick baluster staircase with a hardwood handrail, a segmental alcove arch with a moulded architrave, and some plain girders.
