Description

This is a pump built in 1897 and restored in 1973, located on the west side of London Road in Silk Willoughby. It is constructed from limestone ashlar, slate, and cast iron. The pump housing features a gabled wall with chamfered angles and overhanging ashlar copings topped with a roll moulded finial. At the base, there is a small blocked four-centred arched chamfered opening, which now holds a cast iron lion head mask. Above this, the pump handle is situated, and further up, there is a rectangular slate tablet that commemorates the construction of the pump in 1897 in memory of the Reverend W.H.E. McKnight, M.A.
