Description
The barn at Fieldby House dates from 1772 and has minor alterations from the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings, red brick, and features a pantiled roof with raised stone coped gables. The front is a single storey with two bays. In the center, there is a planked stable door, and to the left, a fixed 19th-century two-light iron louvered window, both with segmental brick heads. To the right, there is a small triangular breather. On the left side, there is a pent-roofed extension with a stone base and red brick above, which includes a matching window and a smaller stable door. The left gable features a datestone from 1772, while the right gable has another breather and a two-light opening with a brick surround. The rear of the barn includes two breathers, an opening that has been blocked with red brick, and a dated quoin stone. Inside, the barn retains a softwood clasped purlin roof.
