Description
Garden Cottage and Barn Cottage are two dwellings that were originally five houses, dating from the early 19th century. They are constructed of squared coursed limestone with ashlar dressings and feature a Collyweston slate roof. The buildings likely started as single-unit plans, forming an L-shaped range. The front has a six-window arrangement of leaded casements; the far-right windows are set under gauged stone heads with ashlar surrounds, while the others are under wood lintels. The first-floor window on the far right is blind. There is a four-panel door with a rectangular fanlight to the far right, which also has a gauged stone head and ashlar surround. The gable ends have ashlar parapets, and there are rebuilt brick stacks at the ridge and end. To the left is Barn Cottage, which has a similar appearance to the main front and features two four-panel doors between the window ranges. The interiors have not been inspected. These cottages were originally part of the stable courtyard for Polebrook Hall.
