Description
Fell View is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of slobbered squared rubble with stone dressings and a stone slate roof. Originally designed with a two-cell plan, a late 19th-century extension at the rear has created a central staircase layout. The building faces away from the street.
The garden front is two storeys high and has three bays. The central entrance features a chamfered surround and a glazed door added around 1980. On the ground floor, there are two former four-light double chamfered mullioned windows, which have been altered to two-light windows, retaining only the central king mullion. A drip moulding rises above the entrance. On the upper floor, there is a central light with a chamfered surround, which likely was originally a two-light window with the mullion now missing. The two outer lights were each originally three-light double chamfered mullioned windows, but now only the left-hand mullion remains in both cases. The windows have been replaced with 20th-century casements. The gable ends feature coping and kneelers, along with ridge stacks. Inside, the right-hand room contains a fireplace with a chamfered surround and a basket arch made of nine joggled voussoirs.
