Description
Dumpty Cottage is a cottage dated 1673, with alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of slobbered rubble with stone dressings and features a stone slate roof. The right-hand side has a late 17th-century gabled porch that extends beyond the right-hand return of the cottage. The entrance has a chamfered surround and a segmental arched lintel inscribed with "T G M," leading to a plank door. On the ground floor to the right is a 19th-century fixed light window. To the left on the ground floor, there is a two- and three-light double chamfered mullioned window with a dripmould, while the upper floor features two similar three-light windows. The left-hand gable end has a ridge stack. Inside the porch, the dripmould rises over the chamfered entrance, which has a Tudor arched lintel dated and inscribed with "A E C."
