Description

Cowper Cote Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from slobbered rubble with red sandstone dressings and features a stone slate roof. The building has a lobby-entry plan and stands two storeys high with three bays. The former central entrance has been blocked, while the left-hand entrance, added in the 19th century, has a plain surround and a 1970 six-panel door topped with a gabled slate hood.

On the ground floor, there is a left-hand four-light double chamfered mullioned window with a king mullion, now fitted with 1970 casements. The right-hand side features an early 20th-century two-light window that replaced a former 17th-century window, with sashes that do not have glazing bars. The upper floor has three double chamfered windows; two of these were originally two-light windows with mullions that are now missing, and they have sashes with glazing bars. The right-hand window was originally three-light, but only the left-hand mullion remains, with sashes that also have glazing bars. The eaves are decorated with modillions, and there is a central ridge stack as well as a ridge stack on the right-hand gable end.

Inside, the farmhouse includes an inglenook fireplace with a chamfered surround and a basket arch.
