Description
The White House is a farmhouse dated 1666, which was rebuilt around 1900. It features slobbered rubble brought to course with stone dressings and a slate roof. The building has a lobby entry plan and is gable-ended to the street. The entrance front is two storeys and double fronted. The central entrance has a chamfered surround and a Tudor arched lintel with deeply incised spandrels, inscribed with the date HH. On the ground floor, there are two early 20th-century 2-light mullioned windows with sashes and glazing bars, while the upper floor has two windows with plain surrounds and sashes without glazing bars. A central ridge stack is present. The right-hand return features a 17th-century gable entrance with a chamfered surround and a Tudor arched lintel, along with a 2-light double chamfered mullioned window on the upper floor. Inside, there is a later 17th-century inglenook fireplace. The building is included for its group value.
