Description

Old Hall Cottage is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed from slobbered squared rubble with stone dressings and has a slate roof. It is two storeys high and has three bays with scattered fenestration.

The entrance on the left side of the centre features a slate hood and a door from around 1980. The right-hand entrance has a chamfered surround and a moulded lintel, also with a door from around 1980. There are three ground floor windows: the left-hand window was originally a four-light double chamfered mullion window, but only the central mullion remains; the right-hand window was originally eight lights, but four of the right-hand lights are now blocked, and the mullions in the left-hand half are missing. Both windows have hoodmoulds, with the one on the right continuing across the original extent of the window. Additionally, there is a small chamfered window to the left of the left-hand entrance. On the upper floor, there are three late 19th-century windows with plain surrounds and sashes that include glazing bars. The cottage features a projecting left-hand gable end and central ridge stacks.

Inside, there is an inglenook fireplace with a basket-arched hand made of 14 voussoirs, and the right-hand entrance includes a chamfered segmental arch.
