Description

This is a mile stone located approximately 200 metres west of the parish boundary in Thornton Rust. It dates from the late 19th century and is made of cast iron. The mile stone has a triangular shape and features a hand on the left side pointing right with the inscription "LEYBURN 9 MILES." On the right side, there is a hand pointing left with the inscription "HAWES 8 MILES." The top of the mile stone is damaged.
