Description

This is a mile stone located approximately 100 metres west of Wauley Beck in Thornton Rust, North Yorkshire. It dates from the late 19th century and is made of cast iron. The mile stone has a triangular shape. On the left side, there is a hand pointing to the right with the inscription "LEYBURN 10 MILES," and on the right side, a hand pointing to the left with the inscription "HAWES 7 MILES." The top of the mile stone is damaged.
