Description
Woodhall Park is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with alterations made in 1828 for Christopher Alderson. The building is constructed of rendered rubble and features a stone slate roof. It stands three storeys high and has four first-floor windows. On the ground floor, there is a part-glazed door located between the first and second bays, framed by a chamfered quoined surround. In the center, there is a side-sliding sash window, flanked by two 20th-century casement windows in the outer bays. The first and second floors have 4-pane sash windows set in ashlar architraves. To the left, there is a lead rainwater head inscribed with "CAA 1828". The building also features shaped gutter brackets, shaped kneelers, and ashlar copings. There are chimney stacks at both ends and between the first and second bays, as well as between the third and fourth bays. The right return shows the roofline of an older two-storey house with a very steep pitch. In the 19th century, Woodhall Park was tenanted by Rev Richard Wood, who was the vicar of Askrigg.
