Description
Fosse Cottage is a house located on the north side of Thornton Rust Village Street, dating from the late 18th century to the early 19th century. It is constructed of rendered rubble with a stone slate roof and features two storeys and two bays in a double-depth plan. The central entrance consists of a four-panel door set in an ashlar surround, which has splayed bases, a pulvinated frieze, and a cornice. The building includes sash windows with glazing bars, ashlar sills, and lintels that resemble sills. The roof has two spans, with end stacks and shaped kneelers topped with ashlar copings. Inside, the cottage retains complete contemporary fittings, including doors and shutters with fielded panels, fireplaces, a glass-fronted round-arched cupboard, and a staircase that features a round-arched landing window with decorative glazing bars.
