Description

The wall surrounding the kitchen garden, which is attached to the Old Coach House, dates from the late 18th century. It is constructed of brick, featuring cut brick, with a coping made of tile and mortar. The wall begins at the west corner of the Old Coach House and another section starts 25 meters south of the southeast front; both sections are 250 meters long and converge with a 50-meter-long southwest wall, enclosing an area of one hectare. The walls stand 3 meters high. The garden itself consists of three terraces that increase in length as they extend away from the building, with stone steps located in the center between the terraces. A plan of the garden walls, dated 1787, is held in the Huntingdon Library collection of Stowe records from the Duke of Buckingham.
