Description

This is a carriage drive lantern located 10 meters west of The Old Coach House in Avington Park, dating from the early 19th century. It is made of cast iron and features open cast iron work at the base, supported by four corner columns that splay outwards. These columns hold a square base that encases the glass sides around the lamp. Rising from the ground through the base of the stand is a barley sugar column, which originally contained a later gas supply to the lamp.
