Description

This is a sun dial located 35 meters west of Avington House, dating from around 1760. It features a bronze sun dial plate mounted on a marble pedestal, which stands on two steps made of Portland stone. The base is square, consisting of these two Portland stone steps, and the pedestal is square in section with a baluster design. The bronze dial plate is adorned with the crest of the Duke of Chandos.
