Description
The kitchen garden walls date from the early 18th century and have undergone some repairs and alterations in the mid-20th century. They are primarily constructed of brick, with a few stone dressings. The walls are located at the south-east corner of Old Stable Court and extend approximately 75 metres to the south, 200 metres to the west, 75 metres to the north, and return east for about 100 metres. The walls stand about 1.5 metres high and feature a triangular brick coping, arranged in an irregular Flemish bond.
There is a 20th-century entrance on the east side, which includes a semi-circular brick arch. To the north of this entrance, there is an early 18th-century enriched stone architrave, which may have been re-set, featuring a head carved on the keystone. Additionally, the entrance includes a four-panelled door with enriched mouldings.
